successfully finished the 2009 Transrockies 6 day, 113.5 mile
endurance run
(again)!

Day 4 - to
Red Cliff. Steve & Doug are at the high point for the day
(11,668' elevation). After 3,009' of climbing we got to run
downhill a total of 3,580'! Whoo Hoo!
Doug was 70 on March 28, 2009 and ran 70 miles to celebrate.
Steve was 65 on June 19, 2009!
Doug was the oldest runner at both the 2008 & 2009 Transrockies.
This year the California Old Goats beat their last year's total times (in the 5
of the 6 stages that were identical) by 13 minutes. If we can keep
improving at this rate we will be on the winners podium when
100 years old! The geezers also beat 24% of the teams that started! More pictures:

10 years and 6
months since my last visit in April 1999.
Doug toodling along on the
Bright Angel trail. About 3 miles from the finish. Very
few near-level, runnable sections on the way up. Was mostly
power hiking.
This is my Garmin GPS data for the run uploaded
into Google Earth.
You can see our entire route along the rim, down into the
depths and back up. (I added all the notations and arrows.)
May 30, 2009 - Annie, Steve & Doug enjoying the Shadow of
the Giants 50K trail race just out side of Yosemite National Park.
January 1, 2009 - Starting out the new year right with a
healthy trail run!
June 21, 2009 - Doug ran his 30th annual and consecutive Dad's
Day half marathon from Irvine to Laguna Beach in 1:54:49.
