2009 Gore-Tex Transrockies
6 day Endurance Run

Runner's BLOGS

BUT FIRST - a great photo album of the mountain scenes & flowers taken during the race by Hans Schmid (69), the only runner close to my age.  We beat him and his Team Blazing Rocking Chairs partner Andy Udis (59) by one hour.  Something tells me that Hans spent at least 3 hours on the trail total taking all his gorgeous photos!

Will's World: It will be hard to forget the sight of Team Timex's Will Kelsey breaking out the Peanut Butter Jelly dance and here's his blog where you can read a little more about the man, the legend that is Will Kelsay.

The (ultra) Marathon Life: Devon Crosby-Helms was one half of the winning Open Women's team at this year's event and her blog includes a couple of great articles about the TRR.

Banff Trail Trash: Leslie Gerein is one of our three-time competitors and finishers and this year, she added an extra level of difficulty by running the TRR with her husband-the first time they have competed together in 10 years of marriage.  We are happy to report they are still married,

Nicola Gildersleeve: North Vancouver seemed to send the biggest crew of runners to the TransRockies Run this year, and Nicola Gildersleeve's blog covers her drive to Colorado along with a full run report.

I Swim Bike Run: Lynn Astalos is on of the more prolific writers to have taken on the TransRockies Run and his daily blogs were almost more detailed than our website! All the stage reports and summaries are conveniently contained on one page of his blog at http://iswimbikerun.wordpress.com/transrockies-run/.

PInelineRunner: Deb Russell was new to trail running this year, but after a third-place overall finish in the Open Mixed division running with her brother Steve. She's working through her stage-by-stage reports to accompany the overall report she posted immediately after the event.

He Said, She Said:
Kelly Roe and Brian Gaines might have run the TRR together but they blog separately. So, if you want a realy "he said, she said" perspective on running 2009, check our their two blogs.

Team RunFlagstaff: Our overall winners, Team RunFlagstaff also posted a great blog which gives a great inside look at their training, progression and the challenges they overcame in reaching the top step of the podium in 2009.

Smack From the Back: Our own Thomas Miller added one more title to his multi-faceted TransRockies Run participation this year: Writer. He wrote daily articles for Competitor.com documenting his six days on the trails with his lovely wife Monica.

Adventure Running!: Leor Pantilat was one half of the Team Salt Stick duo which was dicing for top placings every day in the Open Men's division and his blog is a great summary of his thoughts and impressions after his first GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run.

TRR means TRANS ROCKIES RACE!
(I counted 188 tents)

This shot was taken by professional photographer Dan Hudson from across the 70 freeway and pretty high up the hill.  None of us knew why the tents were spread out so far apart when we arrived at our Vail campsite after finishing our Day 5 - 23.4 mile run - UNTIL we saw Dan's cool photo in that nights slide show!  I added some notations.  Note that our buddy Lambert drove in early every day and snagged Steve & I the best tent locations!  Off to the left and missing in Dan's photo is one of the most IMPORTANT features of the Transrockies race - THE MOBILE HOT SHOWER (a converted truck trailer)! The left side had 10 booths for the guys and the right side had (I have no clue?) for the women.

In a sweaty runner, out a sweet-smelling lady.
